about

Written, performed and recorded in an old house with no running water on the outskirts of Hiroshima City, in the summer of 2020. It rained and it rained, and then came the heavy sun. The cicadas hissed and buzzed, the tiny frogs flickered in and out of the weeds, startled geckos scampered and hid. Snakes, mosquitoes and millipedes.

The music is partly inspired by my time playing with a fourteen-piece band from Ghana, the Kete Warriors, around the turn of the millennium. I also wanted to explore the sonic possibilities of the Shakuhachi, which I've been studying here in Hiroshima for the last eight years.
